Signing up for tabletop role-playing games
17.7.2016 - 4 minutes readSince signing up for tabletop role-playing games happens when the games are starting, there is no need to sign-up in advance. The sign-ups take place at the Role-playing game Desk, which resides at the 2nd floor of Kokoustamo, next to room 203. The desk is open Friday 3 pm – 8:30 pm, Saturday 9:30 am – 8:30 pm, and Sunday 9:30 am – 4 pm.
The games start on the hour at following times:
- Friday at 4 pm, 5 pm, 6 pm, 7 pm, and 8 pm
- Saturday at 10 am, 11 am, 12 noon, 1 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm, 4 pm, 5 pm, 6 pm, 7 pm, and 8 pm
- Sunday at 10 am, 11 am, and 12 noon
Signing up for a game is simple: all you need to do is arrive at the Role-playing game Desk on the starting time of the game. The sign-up period lasts about fifteen minutes: make sure you arrive on time so you don’t miss the sign-up or any general information about the game you’re looking for.
The games are introduced one at a time in alphabetical order, and will be introduced in four groups: first games played in English, then Pathfinder Society games, after that short 2-3 hour games, and finally the rest. After each game introduction the players will be asked who would like to join the game, and those who are interested can raise their hand as a sign. If there are too many or few players, the Role-playing game Desk personnel will settle the situation. Non-Finnish speaking players are prioritized for games played in English.
Since there is only time for a brief introduction of each game during the sign-up, we recommend that players check out interesting games in more detail beforehand. List of games and information on them can be found at the Role-playing game Desk and in Ropecon’s program guide.
Secure a place at your favorite game with a priority ticket
We want to offer all players a possibility to get into their favorite game. You can secure a place at your favourite game by getting a priority ticket for free from the Role-playing game Desk when the game sign-ups are not running. The priority ticket is personal and is tied to the number on your wristband ticket, which can be checked if necessary. Each visitor can receive only one priority ticket during the Ropecon weekend.
The ticket will get you a priority place on one tabletop role-playing game at Ropecon. Sign-up with a priority ticket also happens by raising a hand. After each game is introduced during the sign-up, those with a priority ticket are asked to raise their hand first if they want to join the game. After the players with a priority ticket are signed-up and their tickets are gathered away, the sign-up continues normally.
Please remember that priority tickets are only given out when the game sign-ups are not running, so pick up your ticket well in advance before the sign-up begins. You can get your priority ticket from the Role-playing game Desk during its opening hours: Friday 3 pm – 8:30 pm, Saturday 9:30 am – 8:30 pm, and Sunday 9:30 am – 4 pm.
Don’t miss your favourite game – remember to arrive at the sign-up on time!
